Description
PnetCDF is a parallel I/O library for accessing NetCDF files, a file format widely used in the climate research communities, among others. PnetCDF simplifies scientific data access and storage by providing a convenient interface for reading and writing multidimensional, typed datasets to POSIX files, along with supporting metadata. When used appropriately, PnetCDF can provide high performance I/O for the largest scale application runs.
Target audience
Science teams interested in a convenient parallel interface for storing and retrieving structured data should consider PnetCDF. It is widely used in the climate and weather communities, as well as in the fusion energy sciences.
